The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Nathan Horton to a seven year, 37.1M (5.3M AAV) contract. Horton went to the Stanley Cup finals last season with the Boston Bruins but told them that he would not be returning and would test the free agent market.
Columbus really like Horton and feel he’s going to be a very solid player for their organization and felt high enough on him to give him a seven year contract. He does have a history of injuries, especially concussion and shoulder issues. He’ll be having shoulder surgery this off season and will miss some time going into next season.
Horton joins a good young core of players in Columbus and will add a nice physical presence and he’s got the ability to cause a ruckus in front of the net and that is sorely needed in Columbus.
