deja-va? I know, 2 days, 2 injury reports. I’m not too happy about it either. After Sunday night’s game two of Montreal’s player were forced to leave the game due to injury.
I said yesterday that Mike Cammaleri was cut badly and would be out for 2 weeks. Since then, it has been confirmed that Cammaleri’s leg had been lacerated and will sit out the next 2 weeks. Since Lars Eller is set to return on Thursday, there is no issue in filling Cammaleri’s spot on the roster. Or so I thought. I realized with Spacek also getting injured, it means Yannick Weber will have to drop back down to defence, leaving another hole on offence to fill.
This leaves two questions: 1. What’ll Montreal do to fill this hole? Montreal could sign a forward, or call up some one from Hamilton. It’s said that Spacek’s injury shouldn’t keep him out for too long, so I’d place my bet on Montreal calling up Palushaj from Hamilton until Spacek returns, allowing Weber to get back to forward. UPDATE: As I’ve been writing this, Aaron Palushaj has been officially recalled from Hamilton.
Question number 2: Who’ll replace Cammaleri on the top line? I want to see Pacioretty there, but I know that probably won’t happen. Realistically, we’ll probably see Andrei Kostitsyn on the top line. I would’ve said Gionta, but that’d mean Kostitsyn would have to play with Scott Gomez, and as we all know, that didn’t turn out too well last year.
Montreal is set to face Calgary in their home opener on thursday. I’ll have a Post game article here with 3 stars and (NOT) player of the game
