Carolina Hurricanes forward Elias Lindholm has been loaned to the Swedish national junior team for the upcoming World Juniors in Malmo, Sweden.
Drafted fifth overall by the Hurricanes last summer, Lindholm made the jump to the NHL this season after playing with Brynäs Gävle, recording three goals and four assists this season. He missed five games earlier this season with an upper-body injury, and he just missed Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury after taking a hard hit on Thursday. In addition to his NHL experience, Lindholm has played in six games with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers, recording one goal and two assists.
Lindholm played in the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championships, recording two goals and four assists in six games, helping his Swedish team earn the silver medal after losing to the Americans in the finals.
