The St. Louis Blues have signed center Maxim Lapierre to a two year, 2.2M contract, 1.0M in year one, 1.2M year two.
Lapierre, 28, isn’t going to be the guy to “wow’ you offensively, but he is going to bring an element to the Blues they have been lacking. A pest. They haven’t had anyone to really get under the opponents skin in a long time, “Lappy” will do that and do it very well.
In 463 National Hockey League games, Lapierre has 54 goals, 59 assists, 113 points and 476 penalty minutes. Another plus Lapierre brings is his playoff resume. He isn’t going to be a big contributor, but he does all the little things that are asked of him which includes blocking shots, throwing hits, and getting under the oppositions skins. The term “pest” fits the bill on Lapierre to a tee. He enjoys ticking off his opponents and will add that element to the Blues roster.
Lapierre started his career in Montreal, then went to Vancouver, and now signs with the Blues as an unrestricted free agent.
