According to reports on Twitter, courtesy of Andy Strickland, the Devils have acquired St. Louis Blues right wing Matt D’agostini.

Terms of the trade per the New Jersey Devils PR department: The New Jersey Devils today acquired forward Matt D’Agostini and a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft from St. Louis in exchange for New Jersey’s conditional fifth-round choice in the 2015 draft

Notes

-This is another great depth move by Devils General Manager Lou Lamoriello. Matt D’agostini shores up the Devils 2nd/3rd lines while Ponikarovsky heals from an injury he recently sustained (although it would appear he has returned to practice today). Lamoreillo’s last trade saw Andrei Loktionov come to New Jersey for a mere 5th round pick. Loktionov now centers the Devils top line alongside Ilya Kovalchuk. Im guessing this latest acquisition will be just another pre-deadline deal to shore up the Devils forward depth, hopefully, the playoffs.

  • Andy Strickland referred to D’agostini as a quality player and, more importantly, a quality person. Those are the guys Lamoriello loves to acquire. I think he’ll have a nice impact on the Devils.

-From the Blues standpoint, this trade opens a roster spot to activate T.J. Oshie off I.R. He has been battling an upper body injury believed to be his ribs.

Here is a compilation of some of D’agostini’s goals.
