Blues face off tomorrow night in Philadelphia against the Flyers at 6 p.m. St Louis time. The Blues coming off an overtime win against the Carolina Hurricanes look to continue their winning ways, and hope to gain some momentum over the next few games.
The Flyers who are 4-2-1 on the season have started off hot. They have made Paul Holmgren look good so far after trading off Captain Mike Richards, and offensive stalwart Jeff Carter over the offseason. But the some of the players who they recieved in return have been the driving force so far this season. Jakub Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, and Sean Couturier (1st rd pick recieved in trade) have 11 pts combined this year each with 2 goals a piece.
With Richards being dismissed to LA the Flyers are looking to former Blue Chris Pronger, Jaromir Jagr, Claude Giroux, and Scott Hartnell for leadership. With the trades they needed to replace over 40 percent of their offense which is why so many people around the NHL were wondering what Holmgren was doing.
The Flyers still play a tough hard hitting game. New goalie Ilya Bryzgalov has experience against St Louis from his days as a Coyote, and the Flyers defense is still pretty solid. Any game plan coach Davis Payne has, has got to be to get traffic in front of Bryzgalov and pick up loose pucks. Find a way to get Backes, Stewart and Grachev in front. The Flyers are another blue collar team like the Blues and always look to out hustle teams to pucks.
Once a big time rival for the Blues these out of conference games are always fun to watch as to styles collide East V West.
