The Phoenix Coyotes have signed Mathieu Brisebois of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to a three-year entry level contract.
Named the second star of the month of February in the QMJHL after collecting 5 goals and 17 points in 11 games with a plus-11 rating, Brisebois, an undrafted free agent, has had a tremendous year in the Quebec league this season. The defenseman has put up strong offensive numbers, with 17 goals and 67 points in 58 contests, a step up from his strong year last season when he recorded 17 goals and 56 points. He is currently tied for the league lead in scoring by defensemen.
In 173 regular season games over three season with the Huskies, Brisebois has recorded 37-104-141. In 31 games with the Lewiston MAINEiacs in 2009-2010, he only posted 7 assists in 31 games. Since then, he has improved his offensive and defensive outputs to become a more rounded player than the one that went undrafted.
