Chris Pronger, who was named the 18h captain of the franchise early this season, is out for the season.

Its hard to tell how bad the circumstances are for the Flyers considering how well they have been playing. More bad news is coming in for the Flyers, who are on a 7 game win streak and sit atop the Eastern Conference with a record of 20-7-3 (43pts), have been notified that their captain, Chris Pronger, will be out for the remainder of the season. Severe post-concussion symptoms are what have sidelined the 37 year old future hall of fame defensemen. It had been reported that the Flyers have not completely ruled out Pronger, and plan to examine him again in a month.

Trade rumors have been going around that the Flyers are in pursuit of Nashville Predators’ captain Shea Weber (defense). Is this real, or is this just some fantasy? I’m not sure. How Holmgren would pull this off, I have no clue, but I do know that the Flyers have tons of draft picks that Nashville may be interested in having. Obviously, draft picks wouldn’t be enough for the 26 year old captain who went through arbitration with the Preds over the offseason. They Flyers would most likely have to part with a key forward, but than again, this could all just be some online writer trying to get attention. I’ll keep you updated on this whole situation.
