Earlier today, TSN’s Bob McKenzie broke the news that the Carolina Hurricanes have claimed Andreas Nodl off of waivers.
Nodl was placed on waivers yesterday by his former team, the Philadelphia Flyers. He has a total of 1 point in 12 games this season and has a +/- rating of -1.
Andreas Nodl was a more defensive offenseman and was pretty decent on the PK. Maybe this is a move to help improve the ‘Canes PK, as they only have a percentage of 80.2% (22nd overall) when killing penalties.
The Hurricanes will take in his full, 2-year, $845,000 contract as he was claimed on his initial waiver entry.
This clears $845K more for the Flyers to work with in possibly picking up another defenseman, as Pronger, Gustaffson, and Lilja will all be out for an extended time.
