Tuesday, James van Riemsdyk, Wayne Simmonds, and Scott Hartnell began shooting the NBC commercial for the 2012 Winter Classic. It seems like it was just yesterday when we were all praying to go up to Fenway Park to watch the Flyers and the Bruins, but the NHL’s annual event is coming to the City of Brotherly Love. The guys shot in various places in the city such as Geno’s Steaks in South Philly, the Art Museum, and Love Park. As far as I understand, the purpose of the commercial is to show visitors who are coming in to Philadelphia for the Winter Classic some cool places to stop at.
The game will be played Citizen’s Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, on January 2, 2012 at 1:00PM. An alumni game and a Phantoms game will also be played, but obviously the NHL Winter Classic is BY FAR the most important of the three. I have heard that a public sale of tickets is unlikely, but no statement regarding that matter has been released by the Flyers, Rangers, or NHL. Right now, it looks like the only way to get to the game is to have season tickets, or you feel like paying a ridiculous amount on StubHub or other online ticket retailers. There has been a lot of hype so far about this upcoming event and before you know it, it’ll be here.
