Stephane Da Costa’s agent, Wade Arnott, says his client has agreed to one-year contract with the Ottawa Senators.
On March 30, 2011, Da Costa signed as an undrafted free agent with the Ottawa Senators after a few seasons in various American hockey leagues. After an impressive training camp to start the 2011-12 season, Da Costa made the Senators’ opening night roster, but after scoring three goals and five points in 22 games in Ottawa, Da Costa was reassigned to their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
In nine games last year in the NHL, Da Costa totaled one goal and one assist and he has four goals and three assists in 35 career NHL games. Da Costa received offers from both Finland and Switzerland over the last few months, but with the Senators holding his NHL rights after offering him a qualifying offer before free agency opened, he decided to stick in North America.
