Per Aaron Ward, the New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Marek Zidlicky to a one year deal for $3.0 million per year (plus a games played incentive).

The signing of Zidlicky is a bit surprising due to Lamoriello’s recent comments regarding the status of several defensive prospects that should be ready to take the next step towards becoming an active member of the Devils NHL roster.
With Zidlicky signed, the Devils now have 7 defensemen with NHL experience, leaving little room for a rookie to make the team out of camp. Could there be another trick up Lamoriello’s sleeve? If so, Devils fans will be hoping it involves the departure of Anton Volchenkov and his $4.25 million dollar cap hit.
Keep in mind, the Devils also need to re-sign RFA forward Adam Henrique whose due for a nice little raise after his clutch playoff performance 2 season ago.
