This is your 2011-2012 Nashville Predator team to start the season.  Obvious notables are Craig Smith and Mattias Ekholm.  With Mike Fisher (center) and Fracis Bouillon (defense) on the IR, and the Preds carrying an atypical 23-man roster, some choices will have to be made when these guys do get healthy.

As Jordan pointed out, Craig Smith is definitely on the hotseat.  He will have to prove himself to keep his center position once Fish gets back in.  I would also say a heavy eye will be kept on Cal OReilly.  He will have to be just as impressive to remain with the big club once Fish is back.

Ekholm provides a bit of a conundrum.  Signed to the Predators organization, he has gone to say that if he doesn’t play with the Preds in the NHL, he would prefer to go back to Sweden as opposed to the AHL.  Much is being said about his transition to the smaller ice surface in North America, and neither side has commented on whether or not this is just speculation.  He will seemingly get a chance to show why he should remain.  Let’s see if he does.

A few more Predator questions have been answered.  Here’s to puck drop.  Best of luck to all teams, but of course…

About The Author

Hello, folks. My name is Jonathan and I am a Nashville native who grew up on ice hockey. You may wonder how... Well, my dad spent time as a formidable child in Detroit, watching the likes of Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay, getting the chance to meet them all. He was immediately hooked, and passed that down to me. So, needless to say, I grew up a Red Wings fan (legitimately!), but when the Preds arrived in Nashville, I was in line Day One for tickets, and the team has slowly become my team. The moment I realized the Preds were my team was when I was at a Preds/Wings game in Nashville, and, in my Sergei Fedorov jersey, I screamed, "Go Preds!" Embarrassed, I didn't say much else the rest of the game, and that's when I realized my allegiances had changed. So, I'll say it again, here, "Go Preds!!" I'm very excited to be a part of this blog, and I hope to be able to add a lot to the Preds section. Please feel free to contact me with ideas, questions, thoughts, corrections, anything at all! Thanks for reading.
