Late in the second period of last night’s game against Florida, Max Pacioretty headed for the dressing room and did not return. Combine this with the fact that Montreal has dropped 6 straight games, and you’ve basically taken all the hope and faith I had and shoved it in the dumpster.
Initial reports came out claiming he had a broken wrist which would result in a lengthy rehab. New reports from @renhockey have come out claiming it is only a partial tear along with some deep bruising. That would mean Pacioretty could return to action in about a week. As much as I’m happy that one of our current best players can return quickly, I’m a little disappointed Pacioretty has to miss the two games against Boston on Thursday and Saturday. As we all know, this is the team that Pacioretty was playing when his neck was injured. This would be his first time squaring off against the B’s in a regular season game since the injury was suffered.
Nothing is going Montreal’s way, and it is quite clear that something will have to change in the very near future. The rest of this week will be crucial if Martin wants to keep his job, and he’ll have to succeed while facing two Stanley Cup contenders in Philly and Boston.
Montreal will play the Flyers tonight and I will have a postgame here.
