Swedish defenseman Daniel Rahimi has been forced to leave the World Championships after suffering an injury in the game against the Czech Republic on Sunday.
According to the IIHF, Rahimi will travel home from Minsk due to a bleeding in his left kidney. The former Vancouver Canucks draft pick had never played for the Swedes at the World’s, but does have 5 points in 12 international contests with Tre Kronor this year.
A replacement player is expected to be named shortly.
