On December 20th, Hockey Canada announced the 30 candidates who had a chance to help their country return to the ice and look to defend their gold from the 2015 World Juniors. Some of the biggest highlights on the roster include 2015 first rounders Mitch Marner and Dylan Strome, as well as returning star Brayden Point and summer camp standout Travis Konecny. A big omission from the team is Josh Ho-Sang, a New York Islanders prospect who had a strong tournament but instead was left off in the same way he was last year as well.
