I was asked the other day what I would change about the red-hot start to the season our Dallas Stars are having right now. My answer included a rant about the need for a point man on the powerplay, more cohesion on defense and team captain Brenden Morrow to get going.
In that way he often does, Morrow shut me right up with an outstanding display this past weekend against the Columbus Blue Jackets, potting a goal and an assist on the way to a handy 4-2 home win. The two point game was enough to announce his arrival on the young season with the same grit, determination and drive that nobody else in the league has.
Morrow has always been something of a slow starter and his career stats are hardly going to raise any serious eyebrows where scoring is concerned but if you ask any Dallas Stars fan the active player who means the most to them, our captain will come top of the pile hands down.
The Dallas Stars take on the Blue Jackets again tomorrow (Tuesday 18th) and with confidence as high as we could have hoped at this point, this could be one heck of a season for our beloved green and gold machine with Brenden Morrow – as he so often is – the catalyst of it all.
