Team(s) Interested: Carolina Hurricanes- Jim Matheson reported the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes are in talks about a Antoine Vermette for Bryan Allen. Vermette does have some trade value, but he also has a cap hit of $3.75 million per season, while Allen makes $3,100,000. Carolina has $14,231,486 in cap space at the moment, so if Carolina can pull this off, they would still have a lot of cap room. Vermette so far is off to a bad start, with only 8 points in 19 games, but nobody is playing well for Columbus. Bryan Allen is a physical defensive defenseman, and possesses size and strength in spades, as well as better-than-average mobility when opposed against speedy forwards. With Wisnewski’s offensive skill and Allen’s defensive skill, Columbus would be getting a good player, but I still believe Carolina would get the better deal, as Vermette can produce offense.
