According to Jesse Rogers of “ESPNChiHawks”, the Blackhawks are in contract talks with 2011 2nd round pick (43 overall) F Brandon Saad. Saad was originally projected to be drafted in the “Top 10”, but after a bad season which saw him put up only 55 points in 59 games with the Saginaw Spirits of the OHL, he dropped dramatically in the draft falling to 43rd. The 6’1, 203-pounder impressed the Hawks in training camp playing in 6 of their 7 pre-season games. He also scored the game winning goal in the 3-2 victory on Sept. 23rd against the Capitals. He is expected to crack the Hawks opening night roster, but in order to do that, he has to be signed to an entry-level contract first, reason both sides are in talks. This deal is expected to be done by Tuesday.
