Following the announcement that Joni Pitkanen’s slow recovery from a shattered heel bone would keep him out for the year, Ron Hainsey has signed a one year, $2 million contract.
Hainsey was drafted in the first round, 13th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. A reliable defenseman, Hainsey has totaled 34 goals and 192 points in 591 career NHL games with Montreal, Columbus, Atlanta and Winnipeg during his ten year career.
Hainsey recorded 10 assists in 56 games for the Jets in 2011-12, and during the lockout shortened 2012-2013 campaign, Hainsey went a second full year without a goal, but still did manage to record 13 assists in 47 contests.
