If you haven’t heard about these Bobby Ryan rumors, you haven’t A) checked thehockeyhouse.net recently! or B) been alive for the last 2 years.
According to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, Ducks General Manager Bob Murray met with Ryan today and told him he’s off the trade market. This comes a day after coach Randy Carlyle was fired and replaced by former Caps coach Bruce Boudreau.
On Tuesday, the 24-year-old Ryan spoke with Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register about the increased chatter that continued to swirl around his name and said that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if he was the player sent packing. Other players rumored were Ryan Getzlaf and Jonas Hiller.
Ryan is a three-time 30-goal scorer who would be a wonderful addition to any team. Toronto, New York and Buffalo were the teams that seemed most interested, but in reality, all 29 teams have interest in him. The New York Post reported the New York Rangers were among the many teams that inquired about Ryan’s availability. One rumor that made the rounds was a potential blockbuster brought forward by Bucky Gleason of the the Buffalo News that would involve goaltender Sabres netminder Ryan Miller
The team has only 7 wins this season, so something had to be done. The coach was let go, but the team remains the same. Would trading Bobby Ryan be the answer? We can’t answer that just yet.
